httyd sketches I’ve compiled from the past couple of days v_v;;) I’ve been learning to draw the dragons and am studying a lot of nico marlet’s art for it…… barf& belch hold a special place in my heart so of course i also had to draw their silly humans. And their silly humans’ fave too. but no one told me the real struggle wld be drawing stoick the vast in all his glory. Omfg. His beard is awesome it’s shaped like a star.

okay. c1e100. the boobs enter the hall of prayers, and see all of the prayers of the people of bahumia manifested. prayers to them, from the people leaving the future and the world in their hands. people praying for their protection, and for them to be protected.

c3e56. in aryox's chamber, surrounded by his predictions, callie learns that her mother was also a diviner. that her mother's choices were made to drive her to the path she's on right now. lumi saying "you got here, didn't you?", and the carving. proof of her mother's choice to leave the world in callie's hands. her belief that callie could secure a better future.

the writing on the wall is the song that plays in both of these moments.

I get the feeling im supposed to take Batman insulting Guy as like 'sick own' because Guy is annoying, but Batman is also acting like a massive douchebag so its basically just two man babies throwing petty insults at each other, not funny very cringe.

She is part of our stable community. Her gelding lived here long before I stared working at the stable. She is a good rider and mentor. I will ask/question her about it.

What does graphites really do? Graphite balm was recommended.

I never had a horse with mud fever before. My boss is demissing it. "She's different. That's normal" etc.

The mare, Zoe, is my boss' horse. She is a senior born 2003.

One of my colleagues used iodine soap (Jod Seife) and it worked apperantly and her gelding was rid of it within a week.

Our climate gets wetter and muggier thanks to climate change.

@horsesarecreatures maybe you and your folks can help? I'm looking for tried and tested methods.

Zoe isn't limping but her ankels are somewhat swollen. She is a heavy warmblood so it's difficult to notice in passing. She ist losing hair around her ankles.

I will read up on it naturally but I'd like some real life experience.

It’s interesting to watch the way Schulz draws birds start to shift. At first they were fairly photo-realistic but now they’re beoming much more cartoonish, rounded and simplified. You can kind of see how this will eventually lead to Woodstock.

I'm not dead! I was just out of town and buried in work for a while (still kind of am, actually).

Let's pick up where we left off with our year-end wrap-up. This time we're focusing on...

Violet!

Violet is interesting to me because of all the main cast members her personality changes the most over the course of these early years. She's introduced as this sort of kindhearted counterpoint to Patty and functioned for a while as both as a friend for Charlie Brown (which as we're seeing is very important to keep things from getting too bleak) and as a way for Schulz to talk about relationships through a kid's perspective. Over time though the role of "friend" started getting taken over by Lucy (and later Linus) and as a result her relationship with Charlie Brown morphed from "Charlie Brown's girlfriend" to "Charlie Brown's bitter ex", and I kind of love the dynamic. She also became Patty's BFF at some point in this process which is probably a large part of why Patty sticks around for so much longer than Shermy, who feels vestigial and unconnected to most of the cast.

Her design also changed to reflect this shift with her going from long pigtails to a short, more conservative ponytail. Though that seems to have stabilized a lot since around 1955 with the only real changes being her overall look squashing and stretching in-line with the overall style changes.

Speaking of the overall style, the changes have slowed down a lot this year with only slight shifts in the direction of simplicity, minimalism, and a greater reliance on recurring "out-of-the-box" poses to save time. On the positive side though, we're also seeing looser and more emotive expressions and a continued shift to jokes about specific character traits rather than broad observations about kids/dogs/etc. It's something you really notice with Linus's continued growth from a generic little kid with a few quirks into a proper character. We're also seeing Snoopy continue to elongate and he's now walking upright regularly. Which I'm still not a huge fan of but I do think it's starting to look better as time goes on.

Overall I'd say I like this year more than the last one, but still not as much as that sweet spot we got between 1952 and 1954. Not bad by any means, but we've lost a lot of what I loved about those first few years and the strengths the strip will eventually develop in their place aren't fully baked just yet.

I was feeling like a bit of slightly-angsty isolation this thursday, so...

AU where, instead of a double transmigration happening, RokSoo transmigrated to ogCale's body, but ogCale was put into a newly made double of his body and confined into a dimension pocket.

And just, no one knows about it and he can't get out until certain conditions are reached. For example: that someone finally gets rid of WS.

Luckily for him, RokSoo and company are rather fast to kill the white star. It only took them two years, way better than in his previous timeline.

Although, those are still two years in which og!Cale, the 40-year-old war soldier turned an 18-year-old time-traveler, had to spend trapped in that place. Completely alone except for the occasional god checking on him, and a few animals a god had the kindness to let for him. (It was Loki, but no one is going to call him out).

Og!Cale is a person who loves easily and deeply but, contrary to his true nature, someone who lived through decades without deep boundaries to gave him feedback. Whether it was during the war that took everyone he knew from him, or before that, with the family he choose to stay at distance and love them from the side-lines. He lived so long without feeling genuine care, making any emotional bond that isn't one-sided, that he's hungry for them.

Being in the past, where everyone he loves hadn't died yet, where they will live, and being so close— just a dimensional door away, really— but not being able to see them, hear them, nor even talk to them... It hurts.

He's happy and so, so glad. They're alive. They can laugh and eat and breath again— and, someday, he will see them again. Even if they don't know how to act with him and is uncomfortable. Even if, most probably, they don't know he's not there and don't miss him, he will see them again.

So, yeah, he's fine with this situation. He accepted this.

That doesn't mean that the waiting doesn't suck. He, a freedom loving person, trapped in the godly version of a safehouse. Most of the days it's only he, his thoughts and the ridiculous massive library Athena managed to fit in here. And his friends, the animals, of course.

Inside of that lonely place, of course, Cale gets attached to the animals that are by his side everyday. He was already an animal lover, to begin with. The little guys who just go through their lives being absolutely adorable and are more loyal than most people around... How can he not love them?

Besides, Athanasia, the griffin, gives the best cuddles he has ever had.

He gets used, eventually. It's not like he never had lived in a big house where the only beings around wouldn't speak more than three words to him. (Well, at least the animals try to talk with him. He just needed to learn what they mean.)

And Cale can do whatever he wants here. If he wants to play the violin or paint, do acrobatics or keep his training, he can just do it. There's no need to hide. No need to restrain himself.

There's no one here to get sad at her memories. No one to spread rumors about 'skills' or 'talents'. No one to turn his interests into weapons against his own family by comparing Bassen to him.

Eventually, it feels like a different kind of freedom here.

—And then he gets out.
